Thematic concepts - the modern Eiffel Tower The
Thematic
Area is a complex of exhibitions that shall give concrete, three-dimensional
shape to the Expo's motto. The subthemes range from "Basic Needs" to "Energy"
and "The 21st century" and raises questions of ageing, demographic evolution,
tolerance or genetic research. The aim is to provide a window to the future, to showcase a wide range of ideas for solving the global problems of tomorrow. "In the exhibitions we are able to mediate even the complex concept of sustainability with a delightful trick," explains Dr. Martin Roth, master of the Thematic Area. "For instance, to explain mobility concepts for China and Brazil, we invented a female journalist, who travels with the visitors through the year 2030 and explains problems and strategies for those regions." Roth emphasizes the sense of a modern Expo: "World exhibitions always have changed. Today, the Expo is far away from a mere national presentation but represents the growing international civil society. The Expo can point out scenarios that aim to give impulses for political and non-governmental initiatives. Consequently, the question if we will still need world exhibitions in the future is absurd." >> ![]() Page 1 | Page 2 | Page 3 | Page 4 | Page 5 | Page 6 | Page 7 TOP |
