				1. Michael Zuern, "Zukunftszeuge" Which main challenges do you see political actors facing right now? When we talk about global governance in a globalized world it seems to me that the main challenge is that economic and social spaces are going to be bigger and are transcending national borders, while the political organization is still bound to a large extent to the nation state. And that requires the strengthening of international institutions, which partially has happened already, but probably not to a sufficient extent, and that is one challenge: To build the national institutions in a way that they effectively can govern and can help to resolve some of the problems that we have. And then secondly, the problem is how can we assign authority to those international institutions? How is it possible to organize them in a way that they work so that they somehow conform to our notions of democratic decision making? And that leads us probably to the other big challenge: How to design those institutions in a way that they work democratically. TOP
