Josef Janning On urban communities It seems to me that the best place to look for the reinforcement of civil society is in urban communities. This approach fits with social utopia or non-utopia, and urban development is problably an area where the redefinition of what the public sector is, the expension of the opportunities for social organization, and the combination of new technologies and old longings has a very concrete place. We could expand that investigation into different forms of social organization - at self-empowerment and so on. So I think, when starting to look at civil society, begin with those communities, especially with urban communities where the density of communication is highest. |
