Werner Meissner
Werner
Meissner is Head of Department and Course Leader European Studies at Hong
Kong Baptist University, where he has taught since 1994, and an outspoken
expert on China, about which he has extensively published. He served as
President of the Hong Kong and Macau Association for European Studies,
and as Director of the East-West program and Editor of the journal "East-west
Dialogue" at the David C. Lam Institute for East-West Studies. He studied
political science at the University of Saarland in Saarbrücken and the
Free University of Berlin, where he later became Director of the Center
of Chinese and East Asian Politics. Werner Meissner received the Ernst-Reuter-Prize
from the Free University of Berlin and Fellowships from the German Research
Foundation as well as the Volkswagen Foundation.
