Dr. Kevin Mattson Dr. Kevin Mattson is Research Director at the Walt Whitman Center for the Culture and Politics of Democracy at Rutgers University in the United States. Prior to his academic career, Dr. Mattson was a political activist in Washington, DC, where he organized youth groups working for social justice. He studied at the New School for Social Research in New York, and he hearned his doctorate at the Univesity of Rochester. At the Whitman Center, Dr. Mattson works with the Center's Director, Dr. Benjamin Barber, on a number of research projects aimed at strengthening civil society in the United States. He has just published his first book, Creating a Democratic Public, and he is working on another book about recreating a progressive voice in American politics.
