Prof. Dr. Duckhwan Lee
Prof.
Dr. Duckhwan Lee teaches chemistry at Sogang University in South Korea.
After receiving his Ph.D. in theoretical chemistry from Cornell University
in 1983, he worked as a research associate for two years at Princeton
University. In 1995 he was a visiting professor at the Institute of Molecular
Science in Japan, and in 1992 he held the position of visiting scientist
at Cornell. His main research interests are in the theoretical description
of nonlinear optical spectroscopies and ab initio molecular orbital calculations.
The public awareness of science is an issue he is especially concerned
with, and he has contributed to this awareness by translating science
books of general interest into Korean. In 1999 he was appointed vice president
for public affairs of the Korean Chemical Society, where he had been secretary
for public affairs since 1994.
