Father Dr. Hans Langendörfer Father Dr. Hans Langendörfer, SJ, is Secretary General of the German Catholic Bishops' Conference. During his studies in Munich and Frankfurt am Main he entered the Jesuit Order and was ordained in 1979. He earned his doctorate in moral theology at the University of Bonn. From 1981 to 1986, during some of the most difficult times in the Cold War and in transatlantic relations, he was a researcher on the project "Ethical Problems in Security Politics." His work led to two years in the Federal Chancellor's office, where he saw first-hand the relationship between values and high-level politics. Since 1989, as a Jesuit leader in Bonn, he has worked on pan-European aspects of the Catholic Church's programs.
