Dr. Benjamin Barber
Dr.
Benjamin Barber currently holds the Walt Whitman Chair of Political Science
at Rutgers University and directs the Walt Whitman Center for the Culture
and Politics of Democracy. Dr. Barber has received global acclaim for
his book, Jihad vs. McWorld, a critical study of the corrosive effects
of tribalism and markets on democracy. He chaired the Department of American
Civilization at the Ecole des Hautes Etudes en Sciences Sociales in Paris,
has contributed to a wide array of education television specials, and
edited the international quarterly Political Theory for ten years. A widely
published author, his works include Strong Democracy (1984), The Conquest
of Politics (1988), and l'Excellence et l'Egalite (1992).
