Introduction

Together with the Aventis Foundation, the Research Group on the Global Future at the Center of Applied Policy Research (C·A·P) in Munich realized the project "How we want to live tomorrow". The project focused on the development of strategies to meet future challenges including the needs of a growing global population, globalization and the liberalization of global markets. Furthermore, it focused on the phenomena of digitalization in analysing the social consequences of new communication and information technologies. Further emphasis was assigned to the technological, social and political considerations concerning the progress of biotechnology.

The Aventis Triangle Forum (1998-2000) engaged interdisciplinary scientific experts, political and economic decision makers, business leaders and cultural catalysts such as artists and journalists from the United States, Europe and Asia. This international expert network worked out concepts and strategies for sustainable development integrating the cultural, economic, political and social differences between the three regions in a global dialogue. The results have been summed up in impulse memoranda to advise practical implementations. As a front-end to the Triangle Forum, the forum Decision Makers 2010 was held once a year to brainstorm, exchange ideas on similar issues and set the agenda for the Triangle Forum. In synergy to the cooperative venture, the Research Group on the Global Future offered personal consulting competence, published expert studies, built internet portals on key issues and established a newsletter with a global readership. The cooperation between the (C·A·P) and the Aventis Foundation ended in 2000. On these site you find the documentation of the project and its events, mission statements, staff information and the project partner's portraits.
